“Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it. I stand here proud today. I am proud of all that I have accomplished despite all the adversity I had to face in my life. I consider myself resilient. When I first came to Lighthouse School, I felt like I didn’t belong and all I wanted to do was get out of here. My life has been full of difficulties...I faced many challenges and many fears…but I feel that despite those obstacles, I have achieved success.
I am going to miss staff here. Continue to keep pushing us to our success. Thank you for all your help and for not giving up on us.
To the graduates, I would like to say to you: our journey will not end here. Continue the work you have been doing at Lighthouse, work towards your goals, continue to learn about yourself, push through the fear, and continue the journey. If your dream is big enough, go for it with wide open arms, even if it’s scary.”

“I came to Lighthouse 8 years ago. I was very shy, but very excited to be here. I came from a public school where I was teased by other students for not knowing how to read, write, or communicate. I had a feeling that Lighthouse would be different.
My experience at Lighthouse has been life-changing. When I first got here, everyone worked on helping me understand myself, then eventually, I started working together with staff to understand myself, and now, in the past few years I have tried to help other students who are struggling so they can grow the way I have grown.”

Continue to learn about yourself, push through the fear, and continue the journey.
